Trucking Accidents

A trucking accident is very different from a standard car accident.  Obviously, a truck can do damage that another car is unlikely to do, and the injuries can be far greater.  But the difference is more complicated than that.

What makes a trucking accident different?

When you’re involved in a car accident, usually it is very easy to determine who is at fault.  Generally, one driver has operated his or her vehicle in a negligent manner and caused a collision which resulted in injury or death to another driver.

But a trucking accident involves multiple parties.  For example, if the driver is negligently operating the truck, he might be one party; but what if the trailer he was hauling had too much cargo, which made it hard for him to stop?  What if the company the driver worked for wasn’t following the rules about how many hours he was permitted to drive, which caused him to be sleepy and distracted while operating his truck?  These are complicated questions that require experience and expertise in dealing with accidents involving a tractor trailer.  The insurance companies that represent trucking companies work extra hard to prevent you from recovering the maximum possible dollar amount for your trucking-related collision.
